Funeral services for J. Gustav (Gus) Johnson, 53, of Badger will be held at 1:30 Friday afternoon in Bruce Memorial Chapel here.

The Rev. John Ness, pastor of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside.

Born in Otho, Mr. Johnson received his schooling there. He moved to Badger 40 years ago and had followed the occupation of mechanic. With a brother he operated the Johnson Tractor Company there.

During World War II he served with the armed forces and took part in the Normandy invasion as sergeant in the 337th Signal Company.

He was a member of the Badger Lutheran Church. He died Tuesday night at his home. Surviving are two brothers and a sister.

*NOTE* Gus was the son of Christian and Carrie (Olson) Johnson. His sister was Millie (Johnson) Stow, wife of Willard Eugene Stow.
