“Edward A. Olson Former City Milk Inspector, Dies”

“Edward A. Olson, 58, resident of Fort Dodge for the past 50 years, died Sunday evening at Lutheran hospital after a lingering illness.

Mr. Olson was born in Michigamme, Mich., and came here with his parents as a boy and has made his home since at 208 H street. For twelve years, he was city milk inspector, a position he resigned in the summer of 1943 because of ill health. He was previously in the grocery business.

He was a member of the First Lutheran church of west Fort Dodge.

Surviving are his wife, the former Minnie Anderson, and two sons, PFC Ronald E. Olson of Los Angeles and air corps Corp. Roger L. Olson, stationed in the Philippine Islands. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Carl R. Olson of this city, and four brothers, Herbert Olson of Tacoma, Wash., Elmer Olson of Chicago, Ill., and Sigurd and Ernest Olson of this city.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Wilder funeral home and at 2 o’clock at the First Lutheran church with Francis Johnson, student pastor of the church, officiating.

Burial wil be in the family lot in the St. Olaf cemetery.”

“Funeral Services For Edward Olson”

“Funeral services for Edward A. Olson, 58, former city milk inspector, were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Wilder funeral home and at 2 o’clock, at the First Lutheran church.

Francis W. Johnson, student pastor of the church, officiated. During the services Mrs. Oscar Olson, Mrs., Tom Ward, A. E. Nelson and Stanley Nelson sang ‘The Old Rugged Cross’ and ‘When Peace Like a River Attendeth My Way.’ They were accompanied by Mrs. Ed Rydiund.

Pallbearers were George Johnson, W. T. Alstrand, Arthur W. Johnson, Oden Johnson, August Mandelko and A. Ragnar Johnson.

The many flowers which banked the sanctuary of the church were arranged by Mrs. W. T. Alstrand, Mrs. John Spittal, Mrs. Oscar Nelson, Mrs. George Johnson and Mrs. Ellen Nelson.

Burial was in the family lot in St. Olaf Lutheran cemetery.

Relatives and friends who came from away for the services were a son, PFC Ronald E. Olson of Los Angeles, Cal., a brother, Elmer Olson, of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Campbell of Sioux Falls, S. D., Mr. and Mrs. Chester Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lundgren of Burnside, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl E. Johnson, Carl Sundberg, Mr. and Mrs. William Plotner of Callender, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Taylor of Lehigh, Mrs. Terry Mitchell and the Misses Verla G. Mitchell and Lucille Barnhardt of Renwick.”
