Cecil R. Dorothy, 81 of Fort Dodge, died Sunday August 15, 2004 at his home. His wishes were to be cremated. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. Survivors include his wife Lois; son Alan and special friend Linda Erickson of Fort Dodge; grandchildren Thomas Dorothy of Rochester, NY and Laura Campbell of Fort Dodge; brothers, Alton Dorothy of Fort Dodge, and Kenneth Dorothy of Boone. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Thelma (Gill) Dorothy and brother, Harold Dorothy.

Cecil R. Dorothy was born on May 22, 1923 in Glascow, IA. He later moved to Fort Dodge where he attended school. In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. States Army serving in the European Theater during WW11. Cecil received his honorable discharge in 1946 and returned to Fort Dodge. On November 16, 1947 Cecil married Lois Stewart at Epworth United Methodist Church and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. He worked for U.S. Gypsum for 40 years as a Foreman before retiring in 1985 Cecil enjoyed traveling to flea markets, and collecting and working on old clocks and radios.
