“Funeral Rites Wednesday for Mrs. L. Smith”

“Funeral services for Mrs. Lulubel Hale Smith, 85, of Omaha, Neb., a former Fort Dodge resident, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock in Bruces Memorial chapel.

The Rev. Theodore Goodale, pastor of the First Congregational church will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetary.

Mrs. Smith died Sunday at Cox hospital in Omaha following a long illness. She is survived by one son and four daughters. They are Oliver H. Smith of Fort Dodge; Mrs. Ralph E. Hawkins and Mrs. Clyde Hardnock, both of Omaha; Mrs. Everett McKinney of Eugene, Ore,; and Miss Mavis Ann Smith of Normal, Ill.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery E. Smith, on Oct. 17, 1852; one son E. Elwood, and one brother and one sister.

Mrs. Smith was born in Webster county March 7, 1876, and the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Hale. She attended the rural schools of Otho township. Later she moved with her parents to Fort Dodge where she was graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School.

For several years she taught in the Deer Creek township schools. On July 2, 1900, she was married to Mr. Smith and they established their home in Fort Dodge. Mrs. Smith left Fort Dodge about three years ago for Omaha.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Congregational church and the Women’s Temperance Union and the Daughter of the Union Veterans.

Memorial gifts may be contributed to the Amedrican Cancer Society.”
