A. J. Rider, an old resident of Iowa City, died at his home of pneumonia at the age of 71 years. He had been prominently identified with the business interests of Iowa City for many years.

Charles Gatsch, of Fort Dodge, committed suicide by jumping into the river. The body has not been recovered. No cause is known for the rash act. He leaves a wife and four children.
