Obituary
Mrs. Sara Marie Sandholm
(June 24, 1860 – Dec. 28, 1948)

Sara Marie Peterson was born in Sweden June 24th, 1860 and passed away December 28, 1948 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Linnea Manguson where whe had made her home the past three months. She was married to Charles Sandholm of Dayton. They lived on a farm south of Dayton for many years. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Sandholm moved to Dayton.

Her husband preceded her in death October 14, 1916. Six children survive: Oliver Sandholm of San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Helen Steen, Moline, Ill.; Mrs Linnea Manguson, Harry Sandholm, Arnold Sandholm and Russell Sandholm all of Dayton; also survivng are 25 grandchildren and eight great grandchilren.

Mrs. Sandholm was one of the few persons in the community who had an old spinning wheel and who enjoyed carding the wool and spinning the yarn. She loved children and they came to her house to watch her use the spinning wheel, to listen to her stories and to join with her in singing hymns. Many youth of the community have the lovely memory of seeing her standing in the doorway with a shawl draped over her shoulders listening to their carol singing just a jew nights before Christmas. Her love for and deep concern of people both near and far was like that of her Master whom she served faithfully. Daily devotions were a regular part of her life. She had been a member of the Methodist church for many years.

She will be missed by her children and grandchilren, but she has gone to the beautiful home to be with God eternally which was her greatest desire.

Services were coneductd in the home and church Friday afternoon by Rev. M. E. Dorr. Internment was in the Dayton cemetery in charge of Swanson’s Funeral Home.

Mrs. A. A. Erickson sang “Sweet Bye and Bye” and “The Lord’s Prayer” accompanied on the organ by Miss Mary Ann Stark. Bearers wer the six grandsons, John, Sidney and Maurice Sandholm, Donald, Dwain and Charles Manguson.
