OBITUARY-August 10, 1937
SPECIAL TO THE MESSENGER

JOSEPH FIALA, COUNTY RESIDENT 65 YEARS, DIES

MOORLAND, Aug 10-Joseph Fiala, 74 year old retired Webster County farmer, died at the home of his daughter near here at 8:30 a.m. today. He had been in failing health for a number of years.

Mr. Fiala was one of Webster County's OLDEST CITIZENS in points of years residence.

Born in Czechoslovakia, his parents brought him to Webster County more than 65 years ago and he lived continuously in this vicinity until his death.

His wife died several years ago. One daughter, Mrs. Rose Pliner died four years ago and a son, Theodore died in infancy. Twenty-four grandchildren also survive as do the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. Frank Jondle of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Joseph Hayek of Barnum and Ed Fiala of Alberta, Canada. Three sisters and two brothers preceded Mr. Fiala in death.

Surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. James Kaplan at whose home one mile south of here, Mr. Fiala died this morning; Mrs. Thomas Pliner and Mrs. James Dopita, and four sons, Henry, Joe, Victor and Lee, all of this locality.

The body is at Laufersweiler's undertaking parlor in Fort Dodge. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
