Obituary for Gayle Elm

Gayle Elm, 84, of Webster City, died Monday, August 25, 2003, at the Hamilton Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City, with the Rev. John Grebner officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Lutheran Cemetery, south of Duncombe. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Wilma Gayle Yeager, daugher of Noble and Helen Lindsey Yeager, was born February 22, 1919 at Flora, Ill. She attended Fremont #6 rural school (Mud Hollow) and graduated from Lincoln High at Webster City in 1937. On November 26, 1939, she married Luverne Dean Elm at the Washington Lutheran Church at Duncombe. The couple farmed north of Webster City until 1975 then moved to a farm south of Williams. In 1991, they moved to Webster City. She had worked at the First State Bank at Webster City for fifteen years and Northeast Hamilton School for five years.

Gayle is survived by her husband Luverne; sons and daughter-in-law, Larry and Ginny Elm of Minneapolis, Minn. and Lynn and Elaine Elm of Williams; daugher and son-in-law Judy and Gerald Steuerwald of Duncombe; grandchildren, Dwight Elm, Andrea Stephenson, Kendara Hauch, David and Steven Alexander, Jeffrey Elm, Dawn Schwartz, Jason Steuerald and Heather Larson; sixteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers Noble (Bus) Yeager of Chula Vista, Calif., Robert Yeager of Webster City, Merl Yeager of Texarkana, Texas and Bruce Yeager of Chaska, Minn.; sisters, Joan Jacobson of Jewell, Bonnie Ford, of White Bear Lake, Minn. and Kay Fisher of Alburquerque, N.M.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Kent Elm, great-grandson Alex Steuerwald, sister Jane Widdowson and brothers Harlan, Carrol and Dennis Yeager.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Harmony Club at Williams, Be Neighborly Club and the Hamilton County Saddle Club.

Memorials may be given to the Washington Lutheran Cemetery.
