JOHN PAREL, 88, DIES AFTER THREE DAY ILLNESS

Spent 52 years of life in Fort Dodge- Is survived by ten children- Funeral Tuesday

John Parel, 88 years of age, died at his home, 1602 Third avenue south, Saturday evening at 7:00 o'clock. Death came after an illness of three days, but previous to that he had been in failing health for two years.

Fifty-two years of his life has been spent in Fort Dodge. Mr. Parel was born in Ireland and came to the Unted States when a boy. He moved to Fort Dodge in 1865 and has lived here ever since. His wife preceeded him in death eighteen years ago. Of his ten children who are living, nine reside in Fort Dodge and they were all with their father at the time of his death. The chidren are: Thomas, Mary, Annie, Phillip, John, Mrs. P.J. Allen, Mrs. G. H. Krusie, William and Nellie of Fort Dodge and James of Chicago.

The funeral will take place Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart church. The burial will be in the Catholic cemetery.

John Parel is the son of Thomas Parle and Mary Doyle. He was born in Wexford county, Ireland. He is my 4th great uncle.
