Mrs. Mabel E. Hartquist, 86, a resident of Fort Dodge for many years, died at Ellen's Convalescent Health Center, Tuesday (1-23-1968) following a long illness. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Bruces Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Alden Johnson, pastor of the First Covenant Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Olaf Cemetery. Mrs. Harquist is survived by a son, C. Milton, of Fort Dodge; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Born and raised near Pomeroy, the former Mabel Erickson, she attended schools in the area. At the age of 20 she came to Fort Dodge with her family. In 1907 she married George W. Hartquist, and the couple made thier home here until 1920 when they moved to Lanyon. Mr. Hartquist preceded her in death in 1924. She continued to reside in Lanyon until coming to Fort Dodge in 1945 where she made her home with her son until going to Ellen's Health Center two years ago. Mrs. Hartquist was a member of First Covenant Church, the Gold Star Mothers and the American Legion Auxiliary of Harcourt. Memorials may be left to the building fund of the First Covenant Church.
