RUTLAND — James H. Skow, 92, of Rutland, passed away March 24, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Jan Burnett officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation with the family will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Mr. Skow is survived by his wife, Dorothy Skow; children, Vanetta (Lowell) Heggen of Humboldt, Juane (Elliott) Nielsen of Minden, NE, Karen Heun of St. Cloud, MN, Margaret Miller of Brainerd, MN, John Skow of Dakota City, Lisa (Randy) Thoren of Rolfe, and Mark (Donnell) Skow of Rutland; step children, Mike (Kay) Bergren of Otho, and Pam Selby of Humboldt; 26 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, James and Ronald Skow; sister, Sedona Larson and Harriett Olson; and brother, Stanley.

James Henry Skow, the son of Mats H. and Susie (Bair) Skow, was born May 1, 1914. He attended country schools near Rutland and graduated from Bode High School. Following his education, Jim began farming with his father. In 1934, he married Esther Askland and to the couple was born his children, Vanetta, Juane, Karen, Margaret, John, James, and Ronald. The marriage was later dissolved. He then married Dorothy Clipperton Bergren and to them were born Lisa and Mark. James made his home on the family farm near Rutland nearly all of his life. He passed away there on the evening of March 24, 2007 at the age of 92. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church where he served on various church boards. He had a great love for farming and also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and dancing.
