Matt Elm, 66, Retired Farmer, Dies Tuesday

Matt Elm, 66, retired farmer who made his home on RFD 4, Fort Dodge, died at Lutheran hospital Tuesday evening after a long illness. In failing health since July, he had been a medical patient at the hospital for 24 days.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Burces Memoral chapel. Rev. John Halsten, Pastor of St. Olaf Lutheran church, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.

Mr. Elm is survived by two sons, Stanley M Elm, RFD 4, Fort Dodge, and Harold M. Elm of Farmington, Mich. Six grandchildren, two brothers, Victor Elm of Dayton and Elmer Elm of Fort Dodge; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Metcalf of Salem, Ore., also survive.

One brother, Oscar Elm, died a year ago.

Born May 12, 1893 at East Sioux Falls, S. D., Mr. Elm was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Elm. He moved to Webster county in 1916 and was married Oct. 3, 1917 to Miss Agnes Jacobson.

He farmed near Duncmbe for many years. He retired in December of 1958 and since that time had made his home with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Elm, on RFD 4.
