OBITUARY-Fort Dodge Messenger January 14, 1947

J.M. STANEK, 73, LEHIGH RETIRED FARMER IS DEAD

Joseph Michael Stanek, 73, retired farmer living south of Lehigh died early this morning at his home after an illness of three years. The body is at Laufersweiler funeral home where services will take place Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Stanek was born in Bohemia February 14, 1873.

He came to the United States with a cousin, Frank J. Stanek about 54 years ago, and settled in Webster County in Elkhorn township.

His marriage to the former Lena Stupka took place in Kossuth county November 10, 1896. They lived in Kossuth county until the following year when they moved to Webster county where they had since resided.

Mr. Stanek is survived by his wife, three sons and three daughters. They are Edward Stanek of Lehigh, Alois Stanek of Fort Dodge, Raymond J. Stanek of Greeley, Colo., Mrs. Ernest Carr and Mrs. Merler Chalstrom of Gowrie and Mrs. Charles A. Williams of Eagle Grove.

There are 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
