E.O Lundgren, one of the highly respected pioneer settlers of Hardin township, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 1910, at the home of his son, O.E. Lundgren, at the age of 92 years, 2 months and 2 days. The cause of his death was due to the infirmaties of old age and since last spring he had been confined permanently to his bed.

Erick Olson Lundgren was born in Ockelbo socken, Åmot's bruk, Gävleborg Län, Sweden, June 18, 1818. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Olson June 18, 1844, and came to America May 18, 1869, locating in Swede Bend, Hardin township, where he resided until his death. He was a faithful member of the Lutheran church and a true and devoted Christian. One son, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, besides relatives and a host of friends are left to mourn his departure.

Funeral services were held Friday at the home of his son, O.E. Lundgren, conducted by Rev. N.E. Kron of Dayton and the remains were laid to rest in the Swede Bend cemetary. The pall bearers were Peter Barquist, and the fice grandsons of the deceased: John, Albert, David, Gust and Charley Lundgren.

Not for him be our tears, rather let us crown his grave with garlands; few of us will live as long or as well, and fewer yet will the Angel of Death greet with such a loving touch. The stern Reaper found him, "as a shock of corn, fully ripe for the harvest".
