IOWA FALLS—Jon L. Santee, 67, of Iowa Falls passed away Friday, May 6, 2005, at North Iowa Mercy Medical Center, Mason City. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 10, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Iowa Falls, with the Rev. Margaret Debner officiating. Burial followed at the Northlawn Memory Gardens, Iowa Falls. Memorials may be directed to the family c/o his wife: JoAnn Santee, 107 High St., Iowa Falls, IA, 50126.

Jon was born March 13, 1938, at Fort Dodge, the son of Kenneth L. and Mildred I. (Trickey) Santee. For most of his life he lived in Iowa Falls, except when his father worked for the Defense Department in Riverside, Calif., during World War II. Jon attended the Iowa Falls Community Schools graduating with the class of 1956. He then attended Ellsworth Junior College, Iowa Falls. On Sept. 28, 1963, Jon was united in marriage to JoAnn M. Ohling at Wellsburg. To this union two children were born: Jaci Lynn and James Kenneth. Jon operated Jon’s Music Center and the Colonial Grill, both of Iowa Falls, and was also a custodian for Iowa Falls Community
Schools from 1974 to 1994 when he retired. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard for 20 years, retiring as a specialist fourth class. Jon was a member of the Iowa Falls Lions Club, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Ducks Unlimited, Hyman-Peavey American Legion Post No. 188, all of Iowa Falls, and also the National Rifle Association and Promise Keepers.

Jon L. Santee is survived by his wife, JoAnn Santee of Iowa Falls; his mother, Mildred Santee of Iowa Falls; his daughter, Jaci L. Miller and husband Tad of Fertile; his son, James K. Santee and wife Katie of Council Bluffs; and one granddaughter, Molly Jo Miller of Fertile.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Santee; and an infant sister, Janet Louise Santee. Linn’s Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
