FIRE AT LEHIGH

Driers at Campbell Brick Company
Totally Destroyed

Fort Dodge, Oct. 14 – Fire in the James Campbell brickyard at Lehigh’s did between $2,000 and $2,300 worth of damage, almost totally destroying a large drier building, 170 feet in length. The hot air from the kilns is drawn into the big building and forced through it so as to dry the tile which is waiting to be burned in the kilns. The heat became too intense and the building caught fire. Between 14,000 and 15,000 feet of tile were in the building and it is estimated that the value of this was about $1,500 dollars.
