Nettie Laughlin 1877-1968

Nettie Jane Kimport, daughter of Marin and August Kimport, was born March 15, 1877 on a farm in Benton County near Dysart, Iowa. She departed this life on March 14, 1968 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 30 days.

Her early days were spent on the farm in Benton County. She came to the Lineville vicinity at the age of 18. She was united in marriage to Joseph Curren Laughlin on May 1, 1901. They spent their entire married life in Lineville and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1951.

Following Mr. Laughlin's departure on April 14, 1955, Mrs. Laughlin spent most of her remaining years in the homes of her seven daughters.

She was a member of the Lineville Methodist Church, a charter member of the Rebekah Lodge and a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.

Her survivors are her seven daughters: Mrs. G. A. (Erma) Ramsey, Mrs. M. L. (Delores) Moor, Mrs. L. E. (Dorothy) Cox, Mrs. R. C. (Harriette) Cramlet, Mrs. Winifred Moore, MRs. J. V. (Virginia) Cunion all of Des Moines, Ia, and Mrs. E. B. (Marcelle) Critchett of San Antonio, Tex.; also grandchildren, Dale Corder of Houston, Tex., raised as a son in the home and non other grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Charles Painter and Mrs. Arthur Campbell, both of Leon, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Bright of Des Moines.

Mrs. Laughlin lived a truly good Christian life – one of service and devotion to her family and friends. She loved the out-of-doors. Her greatest pleasure was working in her vegetable gardens and among her flowers. Patience and love guided her to the end.
