Austin Green was born in Hancock Co., Indiana Dec 1838, and in 1853 came with his parents to Appanoose County, IA, where his father entered land near the present site of Plano...He married Mary Ann Wright, daughter of Zebedee and Eliza Wright, April 1, 1858, and to this union 13 children were born, 7 of whom with his wife have preceded him to the great beyond.
Mr. Green moved to a farm north of Seymour in March 1870 and has thus resided in this community for more than 56 years. Respected by all who knew him for his sterling qualities of citizenship, he left a life as an example which any man might profitably emulate...

The children who survive were all present at the service. They were Mrs. B.D. Cook, Mrs. Bert Long, and Fred Green of Seymour, M.Z. and W.F. of Rocky Ford, Col., and J.K. of Popejoy, Iowa. Funeral services were held Wed., 2 pm., April 21, from the M.E. Church conducted by Rev. Martin Keast. Interment in Southlawn Cemetery.
