DEATH NOTICE:

LAVELY, Lillie Eleanor, 99, of Mercer, Missouri, died on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Mercer Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Helton officiating, under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Lineville, Iowa. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville.

LILLIE ELEANOR LAVELY ... Lillie Eleanor Lavely, daughter of William Alexander and Lillie Mabel [Atkenson] Leytham, was born in Persia, Iowa, on November 18, 1912, and passed away on September 18, 2012, at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa, at the age of 99 years.

Eleanor was raised in Grundy County, Missouri, in the communities of Galt and Spickard, where she attended rural schools. On April 23, 1935, she was united in marriage to Alva Roland Lavely. They lived most of their married life on a farm west of Mercer, Missouri. Alva preceded Eleanor in death on November 23, 1964. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Ramona Bagley; and by her seven sisters and three brothers. She is survived by two daughters, Colleen Mcintosh (and son-in-law, Wayne) of Corydon, Iowa, and Pauline Mendenhall of Searcy, Arkansas; her son Charles Lavely (and daughter-in-law, Deborah) of Obert, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 25 great, great-grandchildren; and by other relatives and friends.

Eleanor worked with her husband on their farm, and also worked for Neely Manufacturing in Corydon and Seymour, Iowa, for several years. She loved her flowers, feeding birds, and quilting, and was a very devoted member of the Mercer Baptist Church.
