CLEVER

Lizzie Clever was born June 24, 1889, and died Saturday, March 16, 1901.

When a few weeks ago her physicians discovered the serious nature of her disease, she did not lose hope but struggled bravely and courageously to get well, planning each day to do something in return for the kindness bestowed by her many sympathizing friends who did all that love and friendship could for her. Although only eleven years old she has given many evidences of a christian child life, by her childish prayers mingled with her sisters' daily devotions, and the repeated assurance that when she grew to be a woman she would be a good woman and join the church. She loved to attend church and Sabbath school. Her affection for parents and brothers and sisters was more marked than in most children of her age, and she seemed to feel a responsibility of duty in the home. By these evidences her friends are assured and comforted with the knowledge that she is happy, for "such is the kingdom of heaven."

Her life and death will be a sacred memory, and thoughts of this added tie to the immortal life will give joy to the calling of the spirits when one by one they shall be called to the house of the Lord not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

"Hark! they whisper; angels say,
Sister spirit, come away,"

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Cozier assisted by Rev. McClure. The choir sang her favorite hymn, "Jesus Loves the Little Children." Interment in the Mallette cemetery.
