Wayne County Pioneer Went to His Reward Wednesday-Funeral at M.E. Church Friday

N.G. Hart, aged seventy-three years and a resident of Wayne county for sixty-four years, died at his home in Humeston at 7:30 o'clock last Wednesday morning. He had been ill since last June. His condition was critical for several weeks. Death was due to heart trouble.

Mr. Hart was a native of Clay county, Missouri, where he was born December 25, 1840. When nine years of age he moved with his parents to Wayne county, Iowa. A year later his father died, leaving him upon his own responsibilities and during his young manhood he cared for his mother. By perseverance he finally secured a good education. In 1861 he went West and spent five years in the state of Oregon. On February 23, 1867, he was married to Emily M. Miller, who died July 25, 1906. To them was born three children; Mrs. O.L. Frame, of Rock Ford, Colo., who was unable to attend the funeral because of sickness in the family, H.M. Hart and Mrs. J.C. Boyce of Humeston. On November 2, 1908, Mr. Hart was married to Mrs. Martha J. Fisk, who survives him. Mr. and Mrs. Hart made their home in Cambria until last fall when they moved here.

He was a kind, good, dependable, and faithful man and had many friends. He was a thrifty farmer and owned a fine farm two miles north of town. He lived in this vicinity practically all his life and was highly respected by all who knew him.

The funeral services were held at the M.E.church Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Orr Campbell of the Baptist church officiating. He was assisted by Rev. R. Burton Sheppard of the M.E. church. Many neighbors and old friends paid their last respects to the good man. A number of Cambria people were in attendance. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of A.L. Edwards, Harry Taylor, Clifford Clark and Lafe Gibson. The pallbearers were A.F. Wells, A.D. McCulloch, W.F. Leech, W.W. Hobden, Dave Bott, and A.P. Kirby. Burial was made in the Humeston cemetery.
