Homer Stone Died Sunday and The Funeral Was Held Tuesday at M.E. Church ... Homer Stone, aged sixty-seven, died at 6:15 Sunday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.L. Barker, in Humeston. He had not been in good health for four years. He had failed rapidly in the past few months, and for several weeks his condition had been critical.

Mr. Stone was one of the older residents of the town and the family had resided here for many years. For four years the family resided in Springdale, Ark., and since their return here Mr. and Mrs. Stone had made their home with their daughter.

Mr. Stone was a man of generous heart and kind disposition. He was a good husband and a kind father and a great home lover.

The funeral was held from the Methodist church at 2:30 yesterday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. M.B. Wilson, assisted by the Rev. Ray Eckerson of the Congregational Church. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. M.B. Wilson, Mrs. J.J. Evans, W.F. Leech, and J. Harry Taylor. The pallbearers were C.L. Hart, E.S. Williams, S.H. Gibbs, W.A. Buck, Alva Humeston, and Lon Latimer. Interment was made at Humeston Cemetery.

The following obituary was read at the services by Rev. Wilson:

Arista Homer Stone was born in Ohio December 31, 1849, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.L. Barker, of Humeston, in the early evening of April 22, 1917, closing the day of his life with the closing of the Sabbath.

Mr. Stone came with his parents to the state of Iowa at the age of five years, and has continued to live in this state with the exception of two and one-half years in Nebraska and four years in Arkansas.

At the age of twenty-two, October 18, 1871, he was married to Miss Asilee Taylor. To this union were born eight children, five of whom survive their father: Mrs. A.L. Barker, Humeston, Mrs. Hubert Hagan, Keifer, Okla., Floyd R. Stone, Dakota, Iowa, Roy J. Stone, Janesville, Wis., Mrs. Matson Barnett, Burlington.

Mr. Stone was a gloriously converted at about thirty years of age. Just before death came he said "I am not afraid," and fell asleep.
