Allerton News
Thurs. April 6, 1916

Annice Young was born in Putnam County, Mo., January 8th, 1864, being next to the youngest of four children born to Merritt and Rebecca Young. When twelve years of age the family moved to Iowa, locating at Allerton. It was here that she was reared and schooled.

On January 2nd, 1887 she was married to A. B. Duden. The family home has been near Allerton for the intervening years and has always been a most open hearted home and where she won her way into the hearts and interests of the community. She proved herself loyal to every worthy cause and was counted as one of our most valuable women.

In 1882, at the age of eighteen years she united with the Baptist church and has always been firm in her Christian belief.

To gladden their home were born two sons. Guy and W.M. Duden, who with the husband and all her neighbors and friends mourn her passing.

Mrs. Duden saw all of her family precede her to the other world. Maj. Merritt Young passed away in 1897 and his wife in 1912. One brother, Mason, died in infancy. Her sister, Lydia L. died in 1900 and her sister Aba, died April 11, 1914. After a struggle against disease she passed away Sunday morning, April 2nd ,1916. The sympathy of the whole community goes out to the husband and sons in their bereavement.

Note from contributor: Her mother was Rebecca Campbell.
