E. Green of Seymour met an accidental death last Friday. Mr. E.D. Green of Seymour, son of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Green of Walnut Twp. and brother of Mr. J. K. Green of Corydon, met his death Friday morning through an accident at the Big Jim Coal Mine at Seymour.

Mr. Green was top foreman of the mine and stepped into a coal cart coming out of the mine at the ? landing to ascend to the second landing....When he wanted to go to the second landing the next time, he entered the car and upon reaching his destination attempted to step from the car, thinking it would sidetrack, but before he was clear of it, the car gave a lurch and threw him with great violence against a beam, injuring him internally.
Help was summoned and the injured man taken home and a physician called in. It was evident from the first that an operation was necessary and little hope entertained of his recovery...
Deceased was 38 years of age and leaves a wife and four children besides his parents and numberous friends to mourne his loss. He was a member of the Seymour Lodge Knights of Pythias, and the week before on the same evening was elected to the office of chancellor commander of the lodge. Funeral services were held Sunday under the auspices of the KP order and over 90 of his brethren, many from Mystic, Jerome, and Cincinnati were in line when the body was taken to the cemetery.
