I have a friend that may have some good information for you. His gg grandmother Catherine Cayot was George's sister. Catherine married Ferdinand Marie on 21 Apr 1864 in Washington, IA. She died 22 Dec 1912. I have obits for Catherine and Ferdinand.

My friend relayed a story that George and Marguerite came from France to New York City where they saw an unpleasant sight and returned to France. They remained in France for 10 more years and then return to America via New Orleans.
