Leroy V. Miller
KALONA - Leroy V. Miller, 79, a longtime businessman in the Kalona-Wellman area, died this morning at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
The funeral will be Friday at 1:30p.m., at the Kalona Mennonite Church with the Rev. Carl Smeltzer officiating. Burial will be in East Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the Peterseim Funeral Chapel in Kalona beginning this evening. A memorial fund has been established.
Mr. Miller was born Aug. 15, 1896, at Kalona, the son of John J. and Barbara Yoder Miller.
On Dec. 25, 1915, he married Lydia Troyer, who died in 1961. On March 31, 1963, he married Lydia Beachy, who survives.
Mr. Miller was director and agent for the Iowa Mennonite Mutual Aid Co. He was a member of the Kalona Mennonite Church and was vice president for a number of years of the Iowa-Nebraska Mission Board. He was a member of the Mennonite Historical Society of Kalona and a longtime member and past president of the Kalona Rotary Club.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gerhard (Grace) Tiessen, of Kalona, and Mrs. Al (Mabel) Neuenschwander, of Geneva, Ind.; two sons, J. John J. Miller of Wellmand, and Ralph Miller, of Kalona; 12 grandchildren and three great-granddaughters, and a brother, Thomas of Kalona.
Two sisters died earlier.
