Rites Wednesday for Mr. Saforek

Kalona - Melvin J. Saforek, 58, died Friday, June 26, in Ontario, Calif., after a short illness. He was a former resident of Kalona.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Kalona United Methodist Church, the Rev. James Roth officiating. Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona after Tuesday morning.
Mr. Saforek was born in Kalona, January 11, 1912, the son of Joseph and Margaret McIlree Saforek. He married Delores Kelley, November 12, 1938. She survives.
Mr. Saforek was a Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He had been employed as a tour supervisor with the post office in Ontario.
Other survivors include his mother in Kalona; a sister, Mrs. Tom Russell of Kalona, brothers, Vance of Resenead, Calif., Jack of El Dorado, Mo., and Arch of Richmond, and several nieces and nephews.
