Clyde Kennard

KALONA - Clyde Kennard, 72, of Kalona, died Sunday at a Wellman nursing home following a short illness.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the United Christian and Baptist Church of Kalona, with the Rev. John D. Woodin officiating.
Private services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Memorial donations may be sent to the church. Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Kennard was born in Johnson County April 5, 1898 to Frank and Vertie Oldaker Kennard. A retired farmer and painter, Mr. Kennard spent his entire life in the Kalona area. He married Violet Shepardson Aug. 25, 1920.
He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Ernest Krantz of Ainsworth and Mrs. D.J. Trier of Washington; three sisters, Mrs. W.E. Hendry of Hallandale, Fla., Mrs. C.J. Ackermann of Carmichael, Calif., and Mrs. Vertie Christofferson of Coralville; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, four brothers and a grandson.
