Sandra 'Sandy' Jones

Sandra "Sandy" Jones, 72, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at the Sunrise Terrace Nursing Home in Winfield.

A celebration of life is at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa, officiated by the Rev. Ed Spencer.

Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 3-6 p.m. Interment will be at a later date.

Memorials have been established for the Lake Darling Youth Center.

Ms. Jones was born Jan. 2, 1941, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde "Cap" and Amy Thelma Dawson Knight.

She was raised by her mother and step father, Clyde "Dunny" Little.

Sandy attended school in Brighton.

In her early years she worked at the Mental Health Institute in Mount Pleasant.

She enjoyed working at Hy-Vee Food Store in Washington for a number of years.

She volunteered at Camp REECE and was a foster parent for several children.

She enjoyed raising and training German Shepherds.

She enjoyed going out to eat and singing Karaoke.

She especially enjoyed being involved in the lives of her children and providing a welcoming environment for many people to enjoy and call home.

Survivors include three sons, Rick Nebel and wife Vicki of Wayland, Gordy Nebel and wife Tammy of Washington and Ryan Gustafson and fiancé Mandi of Washington; one daughter, Brandi Monaghan and husband Chris of Morning Sun; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gary Knight of Atlanta, and Terry "Speedy" Knight of Washington, Iowa; two sisters, Virginia Gleason of Pleasant Plain and Toni Barnes of Keota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step father, and one brother, Larry Knight.
