Mrs M'Candless Is Buried Today

Daughter of U.P. Minister Was 91 Years of Age

Burial services for Mrs. Isabella (Brown) Moore McCandless were held at Woodlawn cemetery this morning at eleven o'clock beside her husband, Captain Isaiah G. Moore, who died here in 1870 at the age of 36. He is said to have been county superintendent at the time of his death.

Isabella Brown was the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. James Brown. He was a minister in the United Presbyterian church and was a frequent visitor in Washington. He had two daughters here, Mrs. Moore and Mrs. O.G. Given, wife of Dr. O.G. Given.

She was only twenty eight years old at the time of his death and moved soon afterward to Keokuk, Iowa with her three children. Four children were born in Washington, one dying in infancy. The only child living is Annie Bell (Mrs. O.J. Allison) who lives in Lincoln, Nebraska and with whom the mother made her home.

Mrs. Moore was married a second time to Mr. McCandless who died years ago. She had a wonderful constitution. A year ago when she was ninety years old, she fell down stairs and broke her arm and had been confined to her bed ever since.

Mrs. Allison is very much interested to know whether there are people living in Washington who remember her parents when they lived here. She was a very small child when they moved to Keokuk.
