Floyd V. Bower Dies Thursday

Floyd V. Bower, 74, of 621 East Jefferson Street died Thursday, Sept 14, 1961, in the Washington County Hospital. He had been seriously ill since Sept 3.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Sherman-Eden Funeral Home, with the Rev. W.J. Stevens in charge. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery at Brighton.

Members of the Odd Fellows lodge will meet at the hall at 2 p.m. to attend the services in a body. The graveside rites will be handled by the Odd Fellows.

Mr. Bower was born Jan 20, 1887 in Alsey, Ill., a son of James and Elmina Barnes Bower. He was reared and educated there and married April 17, 1909 to Mabel Anders.

He came to Wayland in 1901 and moved to Washington in 1919.

He was a retired plumber and had worked for a number of years at the city water works.

He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Survivors are his wife; one son Dale; three grandsons; three sisters: Mrs. Lilly Johnson of Brighton, Mrs. Cecil Wilson of Alsey, Ill., and Mrs. Eulah Turner of Twin Falls, Idaho; one brother, Harvey of Fairfield, and a number of nieces and nephews.

One son, one daughter and six brothers preceded him in death.
