Eric Thirtle, 71, of Kalona, died Monday, Aug 2, 2010, in the Pleasantview Home in Kalona following a brief illness. Mr. Thirtle was born July 15, 1939, in Aylesbury, England, the son of Arthur Charles and Mary Helen (Messam) Thirtle. He married Doris Schrock on Aug 12, 1967, at the East Union Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. Surviving are his wife; one son, Myron Thirtle of Kalona; two daughters, Crystal Wade and husband Andy of West Chester and Joyce Butler and husband Barry of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; two honorary grandchildren; one brother, Ian Thirtle of England; and one sister, Anne Williams and husband Jim of England. His parents preceded him in death.
