Mattie Kessel Rites Friday

BRIGHTON - Mattie Niel Kessel, 89, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 21 at Shenks Rest Home in Wellman.

Last rites will be Friday at 2 p.m., at the Sherman-Eden Funeral Home in Washington with the Rev. Dave Higdon of Brighton officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Kessel was born Sept. 14, 1886, east of Brighton, the daughter of Francis M. and Sarah Ellen Custer Davison. She was the last member of a family of nine children.

She was married on Nov. 4, 1903 to Joseph Kessel, who preceded her in death.

The only survivors are a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kessel had lived her entire life in the Brighton community until entering the rest home 10 years ago.
