Dwight G. Loeffler

BRIGHTON - Dwight G. Loeffler, 67, of Brighton, died of cancer Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1993, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after an illness of two years.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Brighton United Church with the Rev. Robert M. Bell officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton. Memorials have been established to Brighton United Church Handicapped Accessibility and Brighton First Responders.

Loeffler was born July 14, 1925, near Merrimac, the son of Lloyd and Bessie Hinkle Loeffler. He was raised in the Brighton area. He married Maxine Morrow on July 29, 1946, in Washington, Iowa. He worked for nine years at Link Belt Speeder in Cedar Rapids. He returned in 1954 to near Brighton, where he farmed for 32 years. While farming, he also was an insurance agent for 31 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Brighton United Church, Brighton Development Corporation, Brighton Chamber of Commerce, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Washington and American Legion in Brighton.

Surviving are two sons, Dennis of Cedar Rapids, Doug of Brighton; four grandchildren; three brothers, Dale and Carol, both of Brighton, Bill of Danville; four sisters, Helen Crile of Washington, Edna Sanders of Keota, Marjorie Crossett of Wellman and Wanda Stannard of Ashland, Ore. Two brothers, Lawrence and Willard, and an infant daughter preceded him in death.
