Daniel Ryan Smothers, 16, of Washington. died April 13, 1999 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Daniel was born August 30, 1982, the son of Jeff and Marilyn Smothers. He was a sophomore at Washington High School. He was involved in jazz band, concert band and marching band and played the guitar and flute. He was an honor roll student for several years. He was a member of the Washington golf team and also enjoyed roller hockey and ice hockey.

He is survived by his parents; a brother, Kyle Smothers; grandparents, Richard and Jeanne
Smothers; four uncles; five aunts and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by one aunt, Becky Smothers.
