Illness fatal to Verl Koch Sr.

Verl V. Koch Sr., 84, of Washington died Monday morning following short illness.

Koch was born March 6, 1900 to Ernest and Bertha Kessel Koch. He lived and farmed most of his life in Walnut Township in Jefferson County, before moving to Washington 10 years ago to live with his daughter Leta Chalupa. He operated a garage in Brighton several years ago.

in addition to his daughter, he is survived by a son, Verl V. Koch Jr., of Fairfield, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Orel in 1977. Koch was active in the Masonic Lodge in Brighton.

Services for Koch will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Eden Funeral Home in Washington; visitation will be frm 7 to 8:30 tonight. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton.
