Kay M. Jarrard, age 73, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, May 10, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospital following a battle with cancer.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph Brown and Pastor Kevin Dice officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:00 p.m. Monday evening. Interment will take place at the Keota Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Research Center at the University of Iowa or Marion Avenue Baptist Church. Kay was born March 19, 1940 in Keota, Iowa the daughter of Roy Edward and Norma Alverta (Wilkins) Bennett. She attended grade school in Keota, and graduated from Washington High School. She was united in marriage to Relden Jarrard on July 5, 1959 in Washington, Iowa.

Kay had been a resident of Washington for all of her adult life. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Marion Avenue Baptist Church. Kay enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, putting puzzles together, and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

Kay is survived by her husband Relden of Washington, Iowa; son Michael Jarrard of Washington; daughter Michelle Potter and husband Raymond of Wayland, Iowa; daughter Tara Lord and husband David of Washington, Iowa; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister Connie Cheney of Washington, Iowa; and sister-in-law Pat Bennett of Washington, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter-in-law Mary Jarrard; one grandson Cody Jarrard; brother Gary Bennett; and brother-in-law Larry Cheney.
