BRIGHTON--Charlene SIMMERING,67, of Brighton, died Aug 18, 1993, at the Jefferson County Hospital, Fairfield, from leukemia.

Services will be held Saturday at 10:30a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Brian W. GENTZ officiating. Burial will be in the Sandy Hook Cemetery.

Charlene SIMMERING was born March 22, 1926, in Washington County to Dan and Mabel (LOWE) HESSELTINE. She graduated from Brighton High School. She married Ervin John SIMMERING on Jan 1, 1947, in Washington. He preceded her in death on March 20,1983. She lived in Washington County all her life, where she worked as a country school teacher and laer was employed by the McCleery Cummings Co.

She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church sewing circle and afternoon Bible Study. She taught Sunday school for 30 years and was a charter member of the Washington County Genealogical Society and the Brighton chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include: two sons, Daniel SIMMERING, Port Orchard, Washington, and Roger SIMMERING, Washington; three granddaughters; two step grand-children; one brother, Harrison HESSELTINE, Knoxvile; four sisters,Margaret HESSELTINE, Brighton, Rose SIMMERING, Washington, and Vera DeWolf, Harper.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, and one brother.
