Daryl D. Shy

Daryl D. Shy, 76, of Washington, died Monday, May 6, 2002, at his home in Washington, following a lengthy illness.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. James Cluney officiating. Burial will be in the Ollie Cemetery.

Open visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in the name of Daryl Shy.

Mr. Shy was born Aug. 7, 1925, in Packwood, the son of Erven Earl and Mattie Olive Bray Shy. He married Arloene Paxton Feb. 18, 1949, in Ollie.

He graduated from Packwood High School. He served two years in the Army Medical Corp and retired from the Milwaukee Railroad in 1985, as a depot agent for 38 years. His pastimes included fixing and selling mowers, working with his son on his classic car and traveling.

He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Washington.

Survivors include his wife of Washington; one son, Daryl Jr. Shy and wife Mary of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Renee Shy of Washington; one brother Roy Shy of California; four sisters, Wanda Holliman of Grand Junction, Colo., Edith Archer of Denver, Colo., Ruth Wilson of California, and Wilma Schmull of Denver, Colo.; one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parens; one granddaughter; three brothers, Wayne, Waldo and Gerald; and one sister, Helda Keefer.
