John H. Carey.

John H. Carey, 79, of 444 South Seventh Avenue, died this Wednesday, January 30, 1974, at the Muscatine Care Center.

The funeral will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Jones Funeral Home here with the Rev. Phil Kaufman in charge. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Carey was born in Macomb, Ill., April 11, 1894. A son of James Riley and Emaline Frakes Carey, he was reared in that community and married April 11, 1920, at Burlington to Catherine L. Duncan.

He farmed for a number of years and later was employed by the city of Washington.

Surviving are his wife; eight daughters, Mrs. Margaret Dobbs of Clinton, Mo., Mrs. Melvin (Darlene) Jaspering, Mrs. Mary Norton, Mrs. John (Joan) Collett, Mrs. Curtis (Shirley) York, and Mrs. Brian (Joyce) Nash of Washington, Mrs. Richard (Alice) Dawson of Aurora, Colo., Mrs. James (Donna) Wagenknecht of Cotter; two sons: John W. and James of Washington.

Also surviving are 38 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Willey, and Mrs. Alice Gordon, both of Macomb. His parents, five brothers, one sister and two sons preceded him in death.
