Lewis C. Heggen dies here Sunday.

Lewis C. Heggen, 84, of the Washington Care Center, died there Sunday morning, Aug. 19, 1979. He had been ill the past five years and seriously sick the past week.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, with the Rev. Stan Eyberg officiating. Burial will be at the Esterville Lutheran Cemetery. Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Heggen was born April 9, 1895, at Dolliver. He was reared and educated in Emmett County. On July 15, 1932, he married Elizabeth C. Jensen at Sioux Falls, S.D. She died Dec. 1, 1972. He farmed in his early life and worked for Moorman Feed Company for 25 years at Estherville. In his retirement years he sold seed corn for Funds Seed Company. He had lived in Washington since 1975. He was a member of the Esterville Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Burge (Marjorie) Hammond of Washington; two sons, Norman P. Heggen of Hot Springs, Ark., and Robert L. Heggen of Danville, Calif.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Oscar (Belle) Matre of Estherville and Mrs. Andros (Sylvia) Hanson of Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one brother and three sisters.
