POWELL W. TAAPKEN

Powell W. Taapken, 56, of Washington, and formerly of Fort Madison, died at 3:25 p.m., Monday, July 7, 1975, in University Hospital following a two-week illness.

Born August 25, 1918, in Warsaw, Illinois, he was the son of Frank W. and Esla Hess Taapken. August 10, 1940, he married Cleda Chipman in Fort Madison. He was chief inspector for Perfex Co., Washington, and worked for 29 years at Schaeffer Pen Co., Fort Madison. He was a WW II veteran and a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Fort Madison.

Surviving: The wife; a daughter, Mrs. John (Sheri) Susich, Marshalltown; two grandchildren.

Funeral was 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison; Rev. Arthur Nash; Hillcrest Cemetery.
