E. VAN WINKLE Rites Pending

BRIGHTON - Elsie M. VanWINKLE, 74, died at 12:05 a.m. today, Feb. 4 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in Mount Pleasant. She had been hospitalized a day.

The body is at the Gould Funeral Home in Brighton where funeral services are pending.

Mrs. VanWINKLE was born April 30, 1902 at Wayland, the daughter of George and Agnes HABER ALTER. She married Orval VanWINKLE on Feb. 27, 1924. He died in 1971.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Clair HOLLANDER of Salina, Mrs. Betty HERMANN of Iowa City and a son, Leroy VanWINKLE of Brighton. There are 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A sister and three brothers also survive. They are Mrs. Rama BAUMGARTNER of Ollie, Ellsworth ALTER of Fairfield, Paul ALTER of Chicago and Eugene ALTER of Chicago. She was preceded in death by one grandchild.
