Arlena Winter Marr

Arlena Winter Marr, 91, of Muscatine, formerly of Fairfield, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Unity Hospital in Muscatine.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Raymond funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Robert L. Pickerell officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton.

Family visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Muscatine First Christian Church or Fairfield First Christian Church.

Mrs. Marr was born May 27, 1918, in Henry County, the daughter of Arlow Austin and Myrtle Jane Edwards Smith. She married Alva Elijah Winter May 15, 1938. He died April 29, 1979. She married Marion I. Marr Oct. 10. 1988. He also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Marr lived in Henry county until moving to Fairfield at age 15. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1937. She had worked at Pierson & Pierson Plumbing & Heating in Fairfield before her retirement.

Mrs. Marr was a member of the First Christian Church in Muscatine. She was formerly a member of the First Christian Church in Fairfield.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Fortney and husband Gary of Muscatine and Jane Phillips of Seattle, Wash.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters; one stepson; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Werner Smith and Ralph Smith; one sister Florence in infancy; and one son-in-law, Dick Phillips.
