MRS. CHARLES HOOUCK

___________
Her Sudden Death is Mourned by Many Friends in the Vicinity -- Had not Been well for Six Years.

Last evening when word reached the city that Mrs. Charles Houck who resided five miles west of the city on the Sigourney had passed away in the afternoon at 3 o'clock there were expressions of sorrow on every band. Mrs. Houck had many friends and the blow was all the more of a shock to them as her death was very sudden. The sympathy of friends goes out to her companion who feels the loss deeply. She was indeed a woman of a loveable character.

Mrs. Houck was not a strong woman. For the past six years she has been taking treatment of one of Washington's skilled physicians but it was never known what her real trouble was. She would be sick one day and up, bright and well, the next. Yesterday morning she did not get up and gradually grew worse until three o'clock when she died. Mrs. Houck was conscious to the last and suffered great pain. She was aware that death was near and had told her husband so several times in the past few days.

Mrs. Houck's maiden name was Miss Marguerit Wilson. She was born in Minneapolis, Kansas, and was 27 years old the 5th day of last January. She was married in Marshallton to Chas. Houck seven years ago this coming September.

Her mother and sister, Mrs. William Eckerman live in Des Moines. Two brothers, T. W. and James, reside in Chicago and one brother William in Rock Island. All have been informed by wire and will probably be here.

Mrs. Houck was a member of no organization. She and Mr. Houck had made application to join the court of Honor but had not yet been formally admitted.

The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at ten o'clock from the home west of the city. The services will be conducted by Rev. Jas. R. Logue, pastor of the Second United Presbyterian church. Interment Elm Grove.
