WILLIAM C. MAYHEW, WASHINGTON, DIES
Succumbs Suddenly to Heart Attack
WASHINGTON, Iowa--William C. Mayhew, 70, retired farmer, a resident of Washington county since he was a small boy, died suddenly at his home here from a heart attack after only an hour's illness. Prior to then, he had been in his usual good health.

February 21, 1894, he was married to Miss Nettie McFarlane and lived on a farm for a number of years, retiring to Washington in 1920.

He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. G.B. Alexander, Eagle Rock, Calif., and one son, Rodney Mayhew, of Lancaster, Pa., a grandson, William Charles Mayhew, his mother, Mrs. Hattie Mayhew, and four brothers and one sister, Frank, Ed and Harley Mayhew, Washington, Mrs. Earl Draper, Harrisonville, Mo., and Roy Mayhew, Baton Rouge, La.

Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Sherman funeral home and will be held in their chapel tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. William M. Nichol of the United Presbyterian church and Dr. Arthur Atack of the Methodist Episcopal church in charge. Burial will be in Elm Grove cemetery.
