John Lester Waters, age 80, of Washington died Sunday, Mar 1, 2009, at the M. L. McCreedy Home in Washington following a brief illness.

John was born Aug 2, 1928 in Iowa County the son of John A. and Rose (Monaghan) Waters. He attended school at Kinross and richaland. On July 26, 1947, John was united in marriage to Lois Hoyle in Washington, IA.

He is survived by one son, Tom Waters and wife Karen of Kalona; one granddaughter Lisa Waters and her children Cheyanne Bush, Savannah Stout and Sierra Stout; and one grandson Jared Waters and wife Christina and their children Bryce, Jenna and Katelyn Waters.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1994, two sisters, Susie Dougall and Helen Ann Birney, one brother Lowell and an infant sister Mary Josephine Waters.
