Isaac Stockman, the son of Geo. and Sarah Slater Stockman was born August 4, 1849 in DeKalb Co., Ind. and departed this life April 14, 1926 at the age of 76 years, 8 months, 10 days.

At the age of 14 years he enlisted int he 74th Indiana Infantry and served 2 years under General Sherman.

On April 21, 1872 he was united in marriage to Emma Hagans. To this union 2 children were born but both died in infancy.

At the age of 13, Mr. Stockman united with the United Brethern Church but transferred his membership to the Christian Church at Coppock when they moved to that vicinity and later to the Brighton church.

The family moved from Illinois in 1878 to Fremont County and after living there 3 years came to Washington County which since has been his home.

"Uncle Ike" as he was familiarly called was strictly an honest upright man always having a word of cheer for those with whom he came in contact. He lived the Golden Rule. A kind husband and neighbor and one that will be greatly missed.

His last sickness was of short duration--only one week but owing to general debility he was unable to withstand the ravages of the dread disease--pneumonia.

He leaves to mourn his passing the aged wife and adopted son William of West Chester and two brothers, Aaron or Plymouth, Ind., and Martin of Quincy, Ill. The two borthers were unable to be here becase of the infrimities of age.
