JOHN C. MCKUNE, 71 DIES THIS MORNING
June 11, 1957

John C. McKune, 71, died at 1:30 AM today at his home at 416 West Washington Street. Mr. McKune had not been well for the past two years and suffered a heart attack during the night.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, June 14, 1957, in the Christian Tabernacle, with Dr. W.J. Stevens in charge. Burial will be in the Eureka Cemetery.

Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John Cleveland McKune was born Nov. 17, 1885 in Taylor County, the son of Frank and Alice Tucker McKune. He was reared and educated in the Eureka Community of Washington County and on August 26, 1908 was married to Ida Mae Nicola in Washington.

They lived in the Eureka community following their marriage, until they moved to a farm west of Brighton. They retired and moved to Washington 18 months ago.

He was a member of the Christian Tabernacle.

Survivors include his wife; 12 children: Mrs. Herbert (Beulah) Askes, Harry McKune and Rex McKune of Washington; Mrs. Roy (Bessie) Edwards of Brighton; Mrs. Milton (Hattie) Nebel of Wayland; Mrs. Robert (Helen) Roth of Muscatine; Mrs. Henry (Edna) Gebelin, Mrs. Archie (Eva) Neff, and John McKune, Jr. of Yuicapia, California: Mrs. James (Opal) McManis of Los Angeles, Calif; Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Randolph of Alhambra, Calif; and Mrs. Richard (Joan) Evans of San Gabriel, Calif.

Other survivors include 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and two brothers Frank and Emanuel, both of Washington.
