Bette C. Tharp, age 82, a resident of Indianola since 1958 passed away early Tuesday morning at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center. Bette was born in Randolph, Nebraska and had lived in Des Moines before moving to Indianola. She was a long time employee of Firestone Tire and Rubber Co.
Funeral services 10 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Peterson funeral home in Indianola officiated by Rev. John W. Long. Interment will be in Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens. There will be no public visitation prior to the funeral. Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry and Agnes (Bernholtz) Ostendorf; husband Frank Tharp Jr. in 1995; three sisters, Irene Borst, Florence O'Brien and Leone McCann.
Bette's survivors include, son Robert (Sandy) Tharp; grandson, Adam (Rachel) Tharp; great-granddaughter, Isla; and sister-in-law Geneva Caudill; along with numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews and cousins.
Any memorials will go to Hospice of Central Iowa.
